A dentist paints fluoride varnish on the teeth with a tiny brush. The small amount of varnish quickly hardens. After the treatment, you may have to wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking.

Your dentist will usually apply fluoride varnish a few times per year.

Healthy habits for a healthy smile

Both kids and adults should brush twice a day and floss once a day. For extra protection, use toothpaste that lists fluoride as an ingredient.

And be sure to schedule dental visits twice a year!
